The Board of Trustees and the Massachusetts Bible Society staff express heartfelt thanks to each of you for your ongoing support.
As 2021 draws to a close and Advent reminds us of hope amid challenges and disappointments, I welcome the promise that Emanuel, our God, is with us in all seasons of our lives. Perhaps this is why I find Howard Thurman's reflection on Christmas persuasive and inspiring.
"When the song of the angels is stilled, When the star in the sky is gone, When the kings and the princes are home, When the shepherds are back with their flock, The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among brothers,
To make music in the heart."
Through your support of the Massachusetts Bible Society, you help make music in many hearts. In addition, your support promotes biblical literacy, understanding, and dialogue by: inspiring speakers of other languages to learn English with the Bible, providing comfort to behavioral health patients, strengthening solace in the long vigil of a hospital day, bringing good news to our incarcerated siblings, and encouraging others to dig deeper into the wisdom and spirituality of the Bible.
May you find peace, joy, and love throughout this season; Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
"ONE BOOK, MANY VOICES" speaking to us here and now.
