Matthew L. Skinner

Matthew L. Skinner is Professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  He earned the M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary.  His undergraduate degree is from Brown University.

 
He is author and editor of several books, including Acts: Catching Up with the Spirit (2020), A Companion to the New Testament (3 vols., 2017-2018), Intrusive God, Disruptive Gospel: Encountering the Divine in the Book of Acts (2015), and The Trial Narratives: Conflict, Power, and Identity in the New Testament (2010). He has contributed to various resources for preachers and other Bible readers, including The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Bible and Theology (Oxford University Press), The New Interpreter’s Bible One Volume Commentary (Abingdon Press), Theological Bible Commentary (Westminster John Knox Press), and The New Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible (Abingdon Press). He is a co-host of the weekly podcast Sermon Brainwave produced by WorkingPreacher.org.
