LeAnn Snow Flesher, PhD

LeAnn Snow Flesher, Ph.D., is an ordained minister with the American Baptist Churches, USA (since 1993) and is currently working as Professor of Old Testament at the American Baptist Seminary of the West (a member school of the Graduate Theological Union) in Berkeley, California.  Dr. Flesher was born and raised in Minnesota where she completed her BA at the University of Minnesota and her M.Div. at Bethel Theological Seminary after which she did her Ph.D. work at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.  While working on her Ph.D. Dr. Flesher taught for three years as an adjunct faculty member at two seminaries in New York City, Seminary of the East and New York Theological Seminary, and is currently completing her fifteenth year of teaching at the American Baptist Seminary of the West (ABSW).  Dr. Flesher has served on the ministerial staff of various congregations over the last 20 years, most recently as the Pastor of Hispano Ministries at the First Baptist Church of Alameda.  She has published several articles on Biblical Laments, Lament Psalms, Lamentations and the biblical book of Job in various journals and commentaries.  She has recently completed a book on Apocalyptic Literature, entitled, Left Behind? The Facts Behind the Fiction, published July 2006 by Judson Press.  Her hobbies include: running, skiing, swimming, traveling and reading.
