Earthly and Spiritual Bodies

In regards to 1 Corinthians Chapter 15: I have read many articles online that say after the second coming of Christ, everyone will be given a new resurrection body yet still live on earth for a period of time under God's reign. How are you interpreting these verses relative to our resurrection bodies and what they will be like? Are they the same thing -- both spiritual bodies? Or is it possible to have a new earthly body with the new spiritual one?

The substance of being "like him"
When considering our earthly and heavenly bodies, I find 1 John 3:2 to be helpful. “Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.”

Whatever the substance of being “like him” is, we will be the same, whether it happens on this earth or in heaven. It could even be that the form changes from here to there; but in each case “we will be like him.” If the form of Jesus’ body changes, so does ours, for we are the body of Christ.
