Philosophy and the Existence of God

Bio:

Andrew Pessin is Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Connecticut College, with degrees from Yale and Columbia --- though he is most popular with his students for his appearances as “The Genius” on the Late Show with David Letterman.  He has spent two decades teaching liberal arts undergrads (at Columbia University, the College of William and Mary, Kenyon College, Wesleyan University, and Connecticut College), in addition to having spoken about philosophy to many non-philosophical audiences, so he has lots of experience making philosophy entertaining, accessible, yet provocative, significant and, most of all, fun.

He has published many peer-reviewed academic articles, two academic books, and, in 2009, two philosophy books aimed at a general audience: The God Question: What Famous Thinkers From Plato To Dawkins Have Said About the Divine, and The 60-Second Philosopher:  Expand Your Mind on a Minute or so a Day!  In his spare time he composes and performs philosophy songs.   (Of course, with two small children -- and, for some reason, a third on the way -- not to mention a deeply disturbed cat, he no longer has much spare time these days!)  In 2010 he will release an audio philosophy course, “The Philosophy of Mind,” with The Modern Scholar.
