Which two Gospels record the Beatitudes?

Above is a painting by Carl Bloch of Jesus giving the sermon on the mount, of which the Beatitudes are a part. Bloch is Danish, which may explain why his characters look a bit more Scandinavian than Middle Eastern!

Answer:

Matthew 5:1-12 and Luke 6:17-26, but the two are quite different.

You can read about the differences and some interpretations of the Beatitudes here.

Above is a photograph of a Franciscan chapel built in 1939 on the traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount. Only Matthew tells us that this was said on a mountain. Luke's version is called the sermon on the plain.
