Matthew L. Skinner is Associate Professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He earned the M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he also worked as a teaching fellow and visiting lecturer prior to joining the Luther Seminary faculty in 2002. His undergraduate degree is from Brown University.
He is author of Locating Paul: Places of Custody as Narrative Settings in Acts 21–28, published in the Society of Biblical Literature’s Academia Biblica series (2003). He contributed to Fortress Press’s New Proclamation commentary series (New Proclamation, Year B, 2006: Easter through Pentecost). Currently he is completing a book that examines the trial narratives found in the Gospels and Acts.
He has contributed to various resources for preachers and other theological interpreters, including the forthcoming volumes The New Interpreter’s Bible One Volume Commentary (Abingdon Press), The Theological Bible Commentary (Westminster John Knox Press), and Feasting on the Word: Preaching the Revised Common Lectionary (Westminster John Knox Press) as well as The New Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible (Abingdon Press, 2006–) and the websites WorkingPreacher.org and TheThoughtfulChristian.com.
