What if the major message we're supposed to "get" out of Scripture is not so much the story of God but the story of God's relationship to humanity, and how that affects our relationships with each other. From this premise, Brakeman uses the Jewish interpretive storytelling known as midrash to trace the healing patterns found in biblical relationships through cycles of intimacy, separation, and reunion. Includes study questions for small group discussion.
About the Author
Rev. Lyn Brakeman is a Priest Associate at St. John's Episcopal Church in Gloucester, MA, and a Pastoral Counselor and Spiritual Director for Cape Ann Pastoral Counseling Services. She is also the author of Spiritual Lemons (Innisfree, 1997; over 4000 sold and translated into Italian) and has published articles in major religious journals.
Rev. Brakeman serves on the Board of Trustees of the Massachusetts Bible Society.
