The Donald A. Wells Preaching Prize

The Donald A. Wells Preaching Prize was established by the Massachusetts Bible Society in 2007 to honor Executive Director Emeritus Donald A. Wells and his commitment to social justice. The prize is awarded to a student from one of the member schools of the Boston Theological Institute for a sermon based on a biblical text that raises an issue of social justice in the contemporary world.

Winner to Receive $1,000

Entrants shall submit:

*  Text of one sermon on a social justice theme.

*  A flash drive with a digital video file of the sermon. It need not be filmed during an actual worship service.

*  A cover sheet with name, school, year, degree program, address, phone, and email.

Sermons should not be more than 20 minutes in length and will be judged according to their appropriateness to the theme, the quality of biblical exegesis, and the ability to present the sermon in an engaging manner.

Deadline for submissions: March 16, 2012

Winner will be announced by April 16, 2012 and will receive a cash award of $1,000.
